MANDATE OF THE COMMITTEE
Trade, Cooperative Development, Tourism and Industrialization Committee is one of sectoral committees established under the Standing Order No. 201 (5) with specific mandate to:
a) investigate, inquire into, and report on all matters relating to trade development and regulation including;
i. markets,
ii. trade licences (excluding regulation of professions),
iii. fair trading practices, iv. betting casinos and other forms of gambling,
v. racing,
vi. liquor licensing; and
vii. local tourism.
b) investigate, inquire into, and report on all matters relating to the mandate, management, activity, administration, operations and estimates of the assigned departments;
c) Study the programme and policy objectives of the departments and the effectiveness of the implementation;
d) study and review all County legislation referred to it;
e) study, assess and analyze the relative success of the departments as measured by the results obtained as compared with their stated objectives;
f) investigate and inquire into all matters relating to the assigned departments as they may deem necessary, and as may be referred to them by the County Assembly;
g) Make reports and recommendations to the County Assembly as often as possible including recommendation of proposed legislation.
