MANDATE OF THE COMMITTEE
Standing Order 201 (5) establishes the Lands, physical planning, Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and veterinary service committee with specific mandate to:
a) investigate, inquire into, and report on all matters relating agriculture, including irrigation, crop husbandry, plant disease control; soil and water conservation; land survey and mapping; boundaries and fencing
b) investigate, inquire into and report on all matters relating to Livestock including animal husbandry, livestock sale yards, County abattoirs, animal disease control; veterinary services (excluding regulation of the profession); animal control and welfare, including licensing of dogs and facilities for the accommodation, care and burial of animals; and fisheries.
c) Study the programme and policy objectives of departments and the effectiveness of the implementation;
d) study and review all county legislation referred to it;
e) study, assess and analyze the relative success of the departments as measured by the results obtained as compared with their stated objectives;
f) investigate and inquire into all matters relating to the assigned departments as they may deem necessary, and as may be referred to them by the County Assembly;
g) Make reports and recommendations to the County Assembly as often as possible including recommendation of proposed legislation.
