Pursuant to the provision of Standing order no. 198, the Budget and Appropriation Committee is mandated to;

a) investigate, inquire into and report on all matters related to coordination, control and monitoring of the County Budget;

b) discuss and review the estimates and make recommendations to the Assembly;

c) examine the County Fiscal Strategy Paper presented to the House;

d) examine Bills related to the County budget, including Appropriations Bills; and

e) evaluate tax estimates, economic and budgetary policies and programmes with direct budget outlays.

f) Monitor adherence by the County Assembly, the County Government and its entities to the principles of public finance and others set out in the Constitution, and to the fiscal responsibility principles of the Section 117 of the PFM Act, 2012.

g) Examine financial statements and other documents submitted to the County Assembly under the PFM Act and make recommendations to the County Assembly for improving the management of the County’s Public Finances.
